The system initiated in 2014 has been expanded to address to teachers, students, and parents of secondary schools and kindergartens.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports announced today that the education sector is to be fully digitized in the academic year of 2019-2020.
Mongolia and the Asian Development Bank have been implementing a project regarding information technology in the education sector since 2014. The project has created a system which had been used for basic registration, exchange of statistical data, now the system has been expanded to address to teachers, students, and parents of secondary schools and kindergartens. Introduction of the system will eliminate paper and reduce teachers’ workload. For instance, teachers will be able to directly submit their feedback to the Minister of Education, Culture, Science, and Sports. Parents’ involvement in child rearing and activities of schools and kindergartens will be improved, allowing parents to obtain all information about their children including report card and attendance record using the Internet. Furthermore, the corresponding Ministry will be able to devise a plan after analyzing actual data such as school enrollment rate and shortage or excess in the number of teachers. The service will be accessible to parents through ESIS application which can be installed from the Google Play Store. The project team has developed and is ready to introduce a number of subsystems.
Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Ts.Tsogzolmaa noted “Education statistics is a broad concept. IT specialists collected statistical data of educational institutions in the nine districts and 21 provinces over the last four years. In order to improve the accessibility and quality of education, we have to support teachers, enhance the quality of education and increase parents’ involvement. The world is adopting digital education system. We are planning to use e-gradebooks starting from next academic year. The system provides people with an opportunity to receive information on statistical data of the education sector including investment, construction, exit exam, entrance exam, scholarships, and tenders, making information of the education system transparent. Our goal is to further develop the system.”
Subsystems for parents and teachers were developed from October 2017 and is ready to be introduced in this academic year.
