Regional environmental sustainable transport forum kicks off in Ulaanbaatar
Themed ‘Sustainable urban design and development-Role of Environmentally Sustainable Transport, the forum is being attended by a hundred and forty two participants from twenty four Asian countries.
The Eleventh Intergovernmental Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport Forum kicked off at the Shangri-La Hotel of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Themed ‘Sustainable urban design and development-Role of Environmentally Sustainable Transport, the forum is being attended by 142 participants from 24 Asian countries, focusing on how to effectively implement optimal ways and policies to overcome socio-economic and environmental challenges that cities are facing due to fast-paced population growth, unorganized urbanization, underdeveloped infrastructure, and basic urban services. Moreover, it becomes a platform for Asian countries to discuss pressing issues and ways of solving their problems, share experiences and expand cooperation and relations. The forum is being co-organized by the Urban Development and Environment related Ministries of Mongolia, Japan and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, United Nations Centre for Regional Development.
