Views exchanged on increasing volunteers in Mongolia
Mr. Tsogtbaatar proposed to increase the number of Peace Corps volunteers in Mongolia and shared his view on ways of expanding bilateral cooperation.
Foreign Affairs Minister Tsogtbaatar met Gene Nixon, Country Director for Peace Corps Mongolia, in connection with latter’s completion of mission. Minister Tsogtbaatar highly appreciated US Peace Corps for sending its volunteers to Mongolia over past 30 years to contribute Mongolia’s social development; especially their significant role in health and educational sectors. Mr. Tsogtbaatar proposed to increase the number of Peace Corps volunteers in Mongolia and shared his view on ways of expanding bilateral cooperation, such as teaching English in Mongolia’s general educational schools and exchanging sport teachers and coaches. In turn, Mr. Gene Nixon expressed his satisfaction with the years in Mongolia and thanked that Mongolia often supports activities of volunteers. Since 1990s, over 1300 volunteers in total worked in soums and bags of 21 aimags of Mongolia.
