Minister Bat-Erdene.J receives specialists of ADB projects
Minister of Road and Transport Development Bat-Erdene.J made a request to carry out a number of construction works with the remaining funds of the project
Minister of Road and Transport Development Bat-Erdene.J met with team specialists of the ADB projects including ‘Western Regional Road Corridor Development Project’ and ‘Regional Road Development and Maintenance Project’, and exchanged views on efficiently implementing these projects, addressing problematic issues and making modifications to some parts of the projects.
Minister Bat-Erdene.J expressed gratitude for successfully implementing the ‘Western Regional Road Corridor Development Project’ as connecting five western provinces to the capital city is a pressing issue for Mongolia. He made a request to carry out a number of construction works with the remaining funds of the project, which was canceled due to a court decision, including setting up toll roads and building a 200 meter-bridge. While voicing his sincere gratitude for the ADB’s approval of funding the ‘Regional Road Development and Maintenance Project’ the Minister asked the specialists’ assistance in resolving funding issue to update blueprint of the road to be improved specifically in route Ulaanbaatar and Darkhan. The Minister noted that the funding of the project was approved with the previous blueprint of the road, which was made without considering heavy traffic, thus, the road pavement width and thickness should be changed. In turn, the specialists proposed to solve funding issues for establishing toll booths with the remaining funds first of all. They then expressed that the Minister’s proposal on changing the road blueprint will be taken into consideration and highlighted that finding additional funding will be crucial for both sides.
