On the occasion of the International Museum Day, Bank of Mongolia (BOM), Mongolian Association of Numismatics and National Museum of Mongolia co-organized the ‘Mongolian Currency: From Ancient Times to the Present Day’ exhibition in order to improve education and knowledge of public, children and youth. The exhibits displayed at the National Museum of Mongolia vary from coins of ancient Mongol empires, pre-revolutionary coins and bullions used for foreign payments, the ‘Baga bolzoot’ note from Bogd Khaan government, Danzan’s dollar intended to be issued shortly after the Mongolian revolution to coins and banknotes of the period between nineteen twenty five to eighty three 1925-83 period of Mongolian People’s Republic. Despite the fact that Mongolia has a rich history of currencies and coins, a lot of materials and documents disappeared along with the banknotes and coins due to the nomadic lifestyle. Therefore, the experts emphasized the contribution to the heritage preservation through investigating these precious items and bringing them home from abroad. The exhibition displays rare and unpresented exhibits from the State Fund of Treasures of Bank of Mongolia, Treasury of the National Museum, personal collections of collectors and members of the Mongolian Association of Numismatics.
