Mongolia hosting Asian Sambo championship for third time
The 25th Sambo Asian Championship is being held at Buyant Ukhaa sports complex in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The 25th Sambo Asian Championship is being held at Buyant Ukhaa sports complex in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. In the three different age categories, over four hundred athletes from fourteen countries including Iran, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, India, Malaysia and North Korea are participating in the championship. Mongolia hosted the Asian Sambo Championships twice before, in 1993 and 1997. Additionally, Sambo is one of the most successfully developed sports in Mongolia. Mongolian Sambo athletes took part in the World Championships held in Teheran, Iran in 1973 for the first time, where Chanrav.Sh became world champion. Currently, there are 37 world Sambo champions in Mongolia.
