Mongolia and India discussed issues related to bilateral trade, terrorism and setting up of joint refinery projects. Mongolian foreign minister Tsogtbaatar held bilateral discussions with External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj, who was on official visit to Ulaanbaatar. While emphasizing the importance of the foreign ministerial visit in strengthening the strategic partnership between Mongolia and India, the Foreign Minister appreciated the long-standing relations and spiritual bond the two countries share. They discussed the possibility of launching direct air connectivity between Ulaanbaatar and New Delhi and agreed to cooperate bilaterally in the international arena to thwart the designs of those who extend support to terrorists’ outfits. Heading the 6th Session of the Mongolian-Indian Joint Committee on Cooperation, the sides also reviewed the progress in the ongoing collaborative projects, including the refinery project selected by the Government of Mongolia for implementation with the support of $1 billion Indian Line of Credit. Prime Minister of Mongolia Khurelsukh met with Indian FM and discussed cooperation in developmental cooperation, mining, capacity building, IT, films and other areas of bilateral cooperation. The two countries have also agreed to remove institutional and logistical impediments to boost trade, tourism, and people to people contacts and furthermore, to explore ways to identify new areas of cooperation in all sectors of mutual interest and to enhance bilateral trade and investments.
