UNESCO heritage project to be implemented nationwide. A national consultative meeting on UNESCO project 'Heritage in a Box’ will be held in Ulaanbaatar. The ‘Heritage in a Box’ toolkit is an adapted version of UNESCO’s World Heritage in Young Hands Educational Resource Kit project for Mongolia. The World Heritage in Young Hands Educational Resource Kit for secondary school teachers is one of the main tools of the World Heritage Education Programme. It aims to sensitize young people to the importance of preserving their local, national and world heritage. The UNESCO Office in Beijing introduced the toolkit in 2016 in seven local schools located in Orkhon Valley, one of the World Heritage sites in Mongolia, engaging more than 2,000 pupils. Based on the successful pilot study, UNESCO plans to carry-out the project nationwide. The project aims to strengthen heritage education on the national level. The consultative meeting will be co-organized by the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO and the UNESCO Office in Beijing. The approaching meeting will be attended by government officials, experts and representatives of civil society organizations and address practical lessons, financial opportunities, strategic partnership, management, coordination, assessment and challenges during the pilot.
