Ulaanbaatar's City Council to be relocated. The decision was made to move the offices of city council to outskirt of Ulaanbaatar from its current location in the downtown area. The decision aims to decentralize the city, to reduce the traffic jam and air pollution, to create a favorable business environment and a new tourism center, as well as to improve public service accessibility. Currently, most of the private vehicles in Ulaanbaatar are the used cars imported mainly from Japan and South Korea which emits toxic fumes to add to the air pollution crises faced by Ulaanbaatar residents. According to professors by Simon Freser University, one in 10 deaths in Ulaanbaatar can be attributed to air pollution. Thus, the government sees the relocation of Municipal organizations with nearly 2000 servants to the suburban areas is the effective measure to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution in certain areas.
