On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first medal won by a Mongolian athlete at the Olympic Games, the Speaker of Parliament Enkhbold met with Mongolian Olympic medalists at the State House.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first medal won by a Mongolian athlete at the Olympic Games, the Speaker of Parliament Enkhbold Miyegombo met with Mongolian Olympic medalists at the State House. Mongolia’s greatest achievement from the games when four Mongolian freestyle wrestlers earned one silver and three bronze medals at the Summer Olympics held in Mexico City in 1968. To date, Mongolian athletes have claimed 26 medals at the Olympics, including two gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze medals. The speaker asked senior Olympic medalists to focus on training more young Mongolian athletes to make them world class athletes and to give athletes training for the 2020 Olympic Games. The senior athletes asked the speaker to help the Mongolian Olympic team that participated in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics to attend the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and also asked help with social welfare. Speaker Enkhbold noted that he will respond with decisions made by the government after talking with representatives from the government and some state organizations in charge of sports and social protection affairs.
