Mongolia and Japan to discuss North Korean matters in Tokyo. Mongolian foreign minister Tsogtbaatar Damdin and Japanese counterpart Taro Kono to meet this week to hold talks concerning the latest information on North Korea. Mongolia and Japan agreed in March past year to urge North Korea to comply with U.N. Security Council resolutions against its weapons programs. During the upcoming talks, Japan asked Mongolia to increase the pressure on North Korea over its development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. They will also seek cooperation on the issue of Japanese nationals abducted by North Korea in the 1970s and 1980s. Mongolian FM Tsogtbaatar’s visit will be his first to Japan since becoming foreign minister in October.
