Parliament and UNFPA to cooperate in youth development
The Standing Committee agreed to pay attention to youth development and family planning and proposed to change the manner of impact training and consultations in the cooperation plan of 2018.
During the meeting between Baatarbileg. Yo, Head of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social policy, Education, Culture and Science and Naomi Kitahara, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Representative in Mongolia, ongoing joint projects and programs and views on broadening cooperation were discussed and exchanged. Ms.Naomi Kiatahara emphasized that Mongolia is successfully implementing Sustainable Development Vision, adopting Laws on Fighting against Domestic Violence and on Promotion of Youth Development. According to Naomi Kiatahara, investment in social development in 2018 will bring positive results to fulfil its Sustainable Development Vision. Therefore she said that they were ready to collaborate with the Standing Committee in empowering youths, increasing participation of women at the decision-making level. The UNFPA Mongolia has formulated its three-year strategy and issues related to eliminating maternal mortality and violence against girls and women are included in it. Notably, the Standing Committee agreed to pay attention to youth development and family planning and proposed to change the manner of impact training and consultations in the cooperation plan of 2018. Female parliamentarians intend to take certain actions in direction of reproductive health of women and girls within the Sustainable Development Vision. UNFPA is a UN organization whose work involves the improvement of reproductive health, including the creation of national strategies and protocols and providing supplies and services. The organization has recently been known for its worldwide campaign against child marriage, and female genital mutilation.
