‘Last Bogd Jebtsundamba’ exhibition held
A traditional exhibition titled ‘The Last Bogd Jebtsundamba’ opened at the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum in the capital Ulaanbaatar city, in accordance with the day of the National Independence Day.
A traditional exhibition titled ‘The Last Bogd Jebtsundamba’ opened at the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum in the capital Ulaanbaatar city, in accordance with the day of the National Independence Day, celebrated on December 29th. It marks the 106th anniversary of the Restoration of National Freedom and Independence of Mongolia from the collapsing Manchu Qing Empire which has ruled Mongolia for 220 years. On Dec 29th of 1911, the Bogd Jebtsundamba Khutuktu, the 8th reincarnation of the Mongolian spiritual heads, was enthroned as the monarch of Mongolia, Bogd Khan establishing the Bogd Khanate. The exhibition unveiled never-seen-before photographs of the Bogd Khaan and Queen Consort Dondogdulam and their belongings including boots, hat, deel, prayer beads and snuff bottle to the public. In specific, there was a photograph of Queen Consort Dondogdulam in her 30s, seated on a chair gifted to the Undur Gegeen Zanabazar, the first spiritual head from Qing Emperor Enkh-Amgalan with a prayer bead in her right hand. During the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the Bogd Khanate of Mongolia was honoured with the full performance of a Mongolian epic by story-teller A.Baldandorj. Notably, Bogd Khan, the 8th religious head of Mongolia played an important role in the consolidation of Mongolia and was the key factor in the establishment of Mongolia’s independence. He led the freedom movement against the Manchu colonization working with the national freedom-fighters shaking off the Manchu Qing Empire rule.
