Animal husbandry sectors` issues discussed with Russian officials. Mongolia proposed to intensify cooperation with Russia on a purchase of vaccines against livestock contagious diseases and the delivery of last batch of murrain vaccines and continuation of the ongoing second phase of the Livestock Health Program. The Livestock Health Program is the national program aimed at protecting animal health and genetic resources. This cooperation matter was discussed during the bilateral meeting held between Mongolian Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry and First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia among the various matters including establishment of a strip of forest in agricultural lands for prevention from possible risks, technological reform, and increasing the size of agricultural land with watering systems. Furthermore, the Mongolian side informed the recent adaptation of Laws on Livestock and Animal Health and Livestock Gene Pool which will be effective from 2018. The laws guarantee to improve the safety and hygiene standards of Mongolian meats therefore to increase the meat exports. Thus, the Mongolian side also proposed to cooperate on implementation of the Mongolian Cabinet’s decision to export non-breeding sheep and goats, inquiring into possibilities of increasing the amount of export meat and meat products and sup plying wheat as humanitarian aid. Notably, Mongolia is discussed to receive assistance from Russia in training agriculture workforce in the short and long term.
