This day is an official national holiday and also known as National Pride Day. This year, the 846^th birthday of the national hero – the “Man of the Millennium”, and a symbol of Mongolian pride and unity – will be celebrated on Sunday, 19 November. Originally, the Government was set to mark the date on November 14 each year according to Gregorian Calendar. However, scholars have different views about the exact birth date of Chinggis Khaan as it is hard to set an exact date according to the Gregorian Calendar. Temüjin was proclaimed with the title of Genghis Khan by his followers in 1206. He was the Great Khan and founder of the Mongol Empire, which became the largest contiguous empire in history. Chinggis Khan was born in 1162 at Deluun Boldog near Dadal in what is now the Khentii Province.
