International scholars discuss Mongolian maps and geographical names. An international scientific conference “Mongolian maps and toponymy” opened at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS). About 30 scientists and researchers representing 12 institutions from 5 countries, including Waseda University, Warsaw University, Inner Mongolia Press Education Commission, and Buriat University participated in the conference, presenting new findings and results of their studies related to the maps, printed in Mongolia and abroad and meanings of geographical names. The conference aims to widen the scope of studies on map and toponymy (the study of place names), which is a significant part of history and culture heritage and joint efforts of scientists.
