Mongolia and Turkey discuss developing leather processing industry. Cabinet Secretariat J.Munkhbat met with Deputy Minister of Turkey’s Ministry of Customs and Trade Fatih Ciftci at the State Palace to talk about trade and economic cooperation and possible areas for collaboration between the two countries. As the two countries have set a goal to reach bilateral annual trade turnover of 250 million USD in the near future to take mutual economic cooperation to a new level, the government of Mongolia is ready to help organize business forums between the two countries’ chambers of commerce and entrepreneurs noted J.Munkhbat during the meeting. He also pointed out the Mongolia’s rich resources in leather products and Turkish global competitiveness in the leather processing industry, thereby expressing Mongolia’s intention to cooperate in the leather processing industry. The Turkish deputy minister noted there are possibilities to develop cooperation of handcrafts industries to promote collaboration between small and medium-sized enterprises of the two countries. During the meeting, the sides agreed to hold a Mongolia-Turkey intergovernmental commission meeting soon. The issues discussed by the two ministers will be reviewed as agendas for the intergovernmental commission meeting.
