Mongolia-US upgraded health cooperation. General Hospital of Khuvsgul aimag has been widening its foreign relations and cooperating with Japan, Korea, US and Russia. Recently, the BioRegion team of the Montana State University has worked in Khuvsgul aimag to conduct a two-day sandwich course focusing on maternal health care, neonatal health, water consumption and diseases caused by drinking water. The training was attended by medical doctors, nurses of the Khuvsgul aimag general hospital, Family Health centers and private hospitals and officers of the Health Department and public health sector of the aimag. The participants acquired knowledge about measures to prevent from potential risks and to render emergency aid. The general hospital of Khuvsgul aimag has been paying attention to reduce maternal mortality as a infant and maternal mortality rate in Khuvsgul aimag was higher compared to that of other aimags. As a result of the measures, 24 cases of infant mortality are registered in the first 5 months of 2017 in Khuvsgul aimag, which is lower by 21 cases or 87.5 percent compared to the same period of previous year.
