New cement plant launches. Mongolia’s newest cement plant is launched in the Gobi Desert, around 330 km southeast of the country’s capital, Ulaanbaatar. The new Khukh Tsav plant has a capacity of 3000 TPD, making it Mongolia’s largest cement plant. The cement plant is the first venture of National Company MAK in cement industry. The plant is supplied by FLSmidth, which is currently finalizing the plant and supporting production start-up, which is expected this month. The Danish company supplied engineering, supply, and commissioning of the complete range of cement production equipment, as well as facilitating part of the financing through the Danish export credit agency. “In a country with exciting economic potential, national company MAK is helping to fulfill the demand for high-quality cement, produced locally, making the most of vast deposits of natural resources,” said Cyril Leung, FLSmidth Country Head – China and Mongolia. The plant has been designed for ease of maintenance and high productivity in a climate with extreme temperature variations. Power consumption is expected to be as low as 3000 kJ/t of cement (720 kcal/kg clinker) with fuel consumption of less than 90 kWh/h of cement.
