‘Mazaalai trophy 2017’ off-road racing, which aims to attract public attention to conservation of Mazaalai or Gobi Bear, was held for the second time in the suburb of Ulaanbaatar city.

Off road racing ran for Gobi bear conservation. ‘Mazaalai trophy 2017’ off-road racing, which aims to attract public attention to conservation of Mazaalai or Gobi Bear, was held for the second time in the suburb of Ulaanbaatar city. The Off-road Auto sport’s Union of Mongolia together with ‘Zov Mongol Ireedui” NGO and General Police Department organized the competition. Racers competed in four categories TR1 or amateurs’, TR3 or professionals’, UTV and truck or 4x4 and 6x6. Actions for the Mazaalai conservation were carried out after the event as usual. After the last year's racing, organizers granted three cars to the Administration of Strictly Prohibited Area of Great Gobi Strictly Prohibited Area (SPA) for food transportation and distribution for Gobi bears and made over 100 guide marks in the SPA. Due to climate change and drought, vegetation has deteriorated and Gobi bear suffers from lack of food. Therefore, special food supply sites are created in habitats of Mazaalai, where water, fodder and meat are put there for Gobi bear.
