Mongolia’s first satellite is to be launched into space this year in the scope of an international BIRDS project.
Mongolia’s first satellite launch project introduced. Mongolia’s first satellite is to be launched into space this year in the scope of an international BIRDS project by a joint team of the Kyushu Institute of Technology of Japan and the National University of Mongolia (NUM). The project team introduced the progress of the BIRDS project and Mazaalai satellite to Mongolian public. Under the project seven non-space faring countries including Mongolia are creating their own country satellite into space and Mongolia's satellite is named Mazaalai after the Mongolian Gobi Bear. Three Mongolian doctoral students at the Kyushu Institute of Technology are in the team to build the first Mongolian satellite.The satellite will soon be transferred to NASA to be sent into space along with the regular supplies of the International Space Station in SpaceX rocket.
