Democratic Party urges postponing of enforcement of increased tax rates. The Democratic Party group in Parliament urges to postpone the implementation of the three tax rates that were decided to increase. The proposed tax increase on interest of bank savings, customs tax on imported cigarettes and excise tax on passenger cars will become effective starting from May 1. Sudden increase of tax rate without giving time makes businessmen more anxious and highly probable to raise product prices and negatively affect the livelihood of citizens. Therefore, the period to take these laws into force should be put off, stated the opposition parliament. The DP group in Parliament also suggests reconsidering prolongation of the retirement age and making retirement age clear for herders and for people, who work in hard or unhealthy conditions, as relevant laws just allowed these people to retire earlier. The opposition also demands resignation of the Defense Minister for the recent irresponsible grenade training which killed two soldiers and injured eight on April 11. The tragic event was the first time an accident caused deaths during a military training at the TavanTolgoi military training center.
