China's Belt and Road Initiative is great investment opportunity for Mongolia’s capital city. Ulaanbaatar is hoped to play an important role in connecting Mongolia's Steppe Road program and the Belt and Road Initiative which was proposed by China in 2013 with aims to build a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa along and beyond the ancient trade routes, said Ulaanbaatar city's mayor Batbold Sundui in an exclusive interview with Xinhua. Mr. Mayor highlighted Ulaanbaatar’s favorable geological location in the construction of a China-Russia-Mongolia economic corridor which aims to boost transportation connectivity and economic cooperation in border regions. Chinese enterprises will start working on new airport highways, city bridges and suburban road construction and the re-development of peri-urban ger districts in the capital city, Mayor Batbold said, adding that all these investments will change the city's future.
