This year celebrates 45th anniversary of Mongolia-Australia diplomatic relations. The bilateral relations have been widening in the fields of education, investment, mining and agriculture. Australia’s relationship with Mongolia, a resource-rich transition economy is expanding. The Oyu Tolgoi mine is Mongolia’s largest economic undertaking in the country’s history, is being developed by Canadian miner, Turquoise Hill Resources, and Anglo-Australian mining giant, Rio Tinto. Back in 1972 September, 45 years ago Australia’s then Prime Minister Gough Whitlam established diplomatic relations with Mongolia. Australia has been contributing significantly to Mongolian education sector with more than 500 Mongolians have been studied under the Australia Awards Scholarship.
