Assessment report of the New International Airport to be released soon. Inspectors from the eleven working groups are working on the supervision and assessment of the Mongolia’s new international airport construction on site and their assessment of progress is about to be issued the middle of the January. Despite the cold weather the construction of the new international airport is still under process. The new international airport complex will have the capacity to receive three million passengers per year, a terminal with six jet bridges, modern services, runways able to receive airplanes 24/7 despite weather problems and harsh wind speeds. The proposed modern equipment comprised of 30 buildings including a control tower equipped with the latest technology, independent water treatment, water supply and heat distribution plants. The airport is located 60 kilometers south of Ulaanbaatar in the Khushigt Valley and this location provides an opportunity to its future expansion of adding up to 20 jet bridges, and increasing the capacity to receive 12 million passengers by receiving 22,000 airplanes per year and this naturally assumes that the number of passengers will significantly rise after the airport opens.
