International investors gather in Ulaanbaatar. The Government of Mongolia is organizing the round table forum entitled “Why should investors focus on Mongolia?” that is to be held. More than 40 delegates from the Mongolian Government, international banks, financial institutions and mining companies will participate in the forum. In 2012, Mongolia was one of the fastest growing economies in the world and focused on international investment. However, the fall in world market prices for natural resources, low commodity prices, severe structural deficiencies and China’s economic slowdown has hit the Mongolian economy and the flow of investment has largely dried up. Economic growth in Mongolia slowed further to 1.4% in the first half of 2016. Analysts see the economy growth of 2017 will accelerate to 2.4% as several mine construction projects get underway. Therefore, the debate at the forum and the answers to the questions will be useful for its economy.
