Japan is to build solar power plant in Mongolia. The Japanese electronics company Sharp announced the construction of a solar power plant in Mongolia with an installed capacity of 10 megawatts. The project is the first of its kind and features the collaboration of the Japanese trading company Shigemitsu Shoji and its Mongolian partner Solar Power International. The agreement was signed in Ulaanbaatar and it is the first large scale solar power plant business in Mongolia. The construction phase began in late July in the northern city of Darkhan and the commercial operation date is scheduled in upcoming December. Once completed, greenhouse gas emission will be reduced in Mongolia.
