UNDP to help increase development potential of capital city citizens
Ulaanbaatar City Municipality signed MoU with UNDP Mongolia.
Ulaanbaatar City Municipality signed MoU with UNDP Mongolia. UNDP will collaborate with UB City in leveraging its economic and development potential for the benefit of all its citizens. For a start, UNDP will support UB City in translating the National Sustainable Development Vision 2030 and the global SDGs into its own 15 year UB City Vision Document and related plans. UNDP has already selected two “pilot” provinces and started working to implement the SDG’s at a regional level. In addition, as a result of the joint agreement, the City Administration will request technical assistance for integrating the city visions with those of the UNDP. Over and beyond plans, UNDP also stands ready to implement jointly identified concrete initiatives that provide solutions to making growth and development more inclusive and sustainable. The partnership would enormously contribute to a more prosperous and greener UB city for all its citizens in the years to come. Achieving these goals in UB City, where close to half of the nation’s population resides and where 60 % of its GDP is generated, will be the key to Mongolia’s development progress overall. UB city has been an engine of innovation, technology and job creation. However, not all UB residents have equally enjoyed the fruits of progress. 16.4% of Mongolia’s 21% of population below the poverty line live in UB alone.
