Mongolia and UN sign a new UN Development Assistance Framework. The UN Development Assistant Framework (UNDAF) for 2017-2021 marks a significant new chapter in the GoM-UN partnership and will guide UN support in Mongolia over the next five years. The UNDAF is designed to support Mongolia in translating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the objectives of the Sustainable Development Vision-2030 (SDV) of Mongolia into actions. The new UNDAF focuses on promoting inclusive growth and sustainable management of natural resources, enhancing equitable access to quality social services, and fostering voice and accountability. Ms. Beate Trankmann, UN Resident Coordinator, highlighted that “the new UNDAF is an excellent opportunity for the UN system to facilitate an early take off of the SDGs in Mongolia and closely align its support behind the core aspirations of the SDV. The new UNDAF centers on the areas of joint work where the UN system will come together as One to leverage its combined expertise for strong results. Fourteen UN specialized agencies will contribute to implementation of the new UNDAF, which is expected to amount at $79 million for joint initiatives over the five year period.
