“E-Health” project launched. Mongolia’s Ministry of Health and Sports launched the project in partnership the World Bank to improve the reach and effectiveness of healthcare services delivery. The project will help the government set up a health information exchange platform to share medical information among healthcare providers, patients and health administrators. The Minister of Health and Sports, Lambaa said “We believe that the introduction of information technology in the health sector will contribute to more effective use of the budget because the health information exchange platform will improve the accessibility, quality, and speed of health services in Mongolia.” The project is funded with a USD 19.5 million credit from the International Development Association which aims to reduce poverty by providing loans and grants for programs that boost economic growth, reduce inequalities, and improve people’s living conditions. “The E-Health project will help reduce both the duplication of medical tests and the need for residents in remote areas to travel to bigger cities to get medical services because the exchange platform will enable healthcare providers to share medical information,” said James Anderson, the WB Resident Representative in Mongolia.
