China imported nearly 2 million tons of iron ore from Mongolia in the first five months of this year.
China imported nearly 2 million tons of iron ore from Mongolia in the first five months of this year. The imports are estimated to reach roughly 4.5 million tons in 2016, according to data by the Huhhot railway station which is the only railway port between Mongolia and China. The peak import was observed in 2012 when China imported 5.06 million tons of iron ore. The imports from Mongolia fell 6.5% in 2013 due to impacts of domestic demands and iron ore from Australia. The imports were 4.06 million tons in 2015.
