Thirteen political parties and three coalitions to take part in June Parliamentary elections, reports the General Election Commission after submission of election platforms. The 29 June parliamentary elections will be conducted under a new Election Law adopted in December past year. According to the new Election Law parliamentary and lower level elections will be held simultaneously in order to save public funds. The official campaign period runs for 18 days up to the day before election day. Parliamentary elections are held under a mixed electoral system. Of the 76 members, 48 are elected under a majoritarian system in 26 multi-member constituencies. The remaining 28 members are elected under a proportional system, in a single nationwide constituency through closed party lists. The voting procedure for Mongolian citizens abroad will run in Mongolian embassies and consulates.
