Mongolian parliamentary elections approaching. Parliamentary elections are scheduled for June 29. A statement on 2016 Parliamentary election preparation was made and number of actions was commenced accordingly. A revised version of the Law on Elections indicates to run parliamentary elections by proportional system by 48:28 for Parliament’s 76 seats. The revised law also calls for reducing election campaign expenditures and allowing candidates to post promotion materials and posters on billboards along streets and squares for free in order to save public funds. Accordingly, the maximum expense amount for election campaign is $1.5 million. Early in February, name list of more than 2 million eligible voting citizens was made. Based on the data, 2091 election units are established nationwide. The voting procedure for Mongolian citizens abroad will run from June 17-19 in Mongolian embassies and consulates.
