Mongolian culture and history are promoted in the USA. The Embassy of Mongolia is participating in the Washington Performing Arts’ Embassy Adoption Program during the school year of 2015-2016, and is particularly working with the McKinley STEM Middle School to promote and share Mongolian culture and history among 6th graders. In January, Mongolian Dr. Saruul-Erdene Myagmar visited the school for the first time and taught history, culture and the Mongolian language. He told the tales of Queen Alan Gua – mythical ancestress of all Mongolians – and transcribed students' names into Mongolian traditional script. In February, artist and sculptor Gankhuyag Natsag taught American schoolchildren the Buddhist arts and culture and explained the meaning of the Buddhist dance “Tsam”. For the next 3 months, professional artists and students will volunteer their time to teach Mongolian dance and its climate change policy. The program will run until June.
